The Civic Imaginaries exhibition emerges from Platform’s forthcoming debut publication Feasibility Study: Civic Imaginaries.
Feasibility Study: Civic Imaginaries resulted from the City of Greater Geelong's Creative Communities Grant Program awarded in 2022, and documents a series of public artworks that could have taken place in Geelong/Djilang.
The forthcoming publication is a modest, speculative, humorous and slightly provocative examination of the possibilities for public art and civic agency in Geelong/Djilang through hyperfiction and the commissioning of ‘concept' works. The publication should be seen as a working document, a proposal, an application, a creative, cross-sector call-to-arms, and an ambitious civic-vision statement.
Feasibility Study: Civic Imaginaries is supported by the City of Greater Geelong through its ‘Creative Communities Grant Program.' This exhibition is presented as part of Melbourne Art Book Fair.
