Neighbourhood LAB is an artist development program that fortifies an artist-driven framework to support research and practice for the Geelong artistic neighbourhood.

Developed in response to locally based LAB applicants, the Neighbourhood LAB program supports emerging artists in Geelong through monthly gatherings, facilitated critiques, studio visits, and curated artistic development sessions both on and off-site.

In partnership with the Rogue Academy, the 12-month residency is anchored by Debrief: a series of arts lectures and participatory sessions exploring the critical third space between institutional and community practices, research, and application.

This pilot program supports eight emerging and regionally based artists to gather in the Platform Arts space, building new skills and networks in the neighbourhood while critically engaging in global discourse.

To mark the end of the program, but the beginning of a newly independently run artist collective, the Neighbourhood LAB artists will present a group show in Gallery One from 8-10 November, 2023.
