EDEN ARISTON

EDEN ARISTON

Eden Ariston is a self-taught Djilang-based artist, curator and musician. She was born on Jawoyn land in the Northern Territory, where her connection with art began. Since beginning her practice in August 2022, Eden has been involved in 5 group exhibitions and curated her first solo and group shows, the most recent being ‘Inside Voices – The Self As A Mirror’ at There There on April 13th. Eden was selected as a member of the 2023 cohort for Platform Arts’ Neighbourhood LAB artist residency and is currently undertaking this offering.

A multi-disciplinary artist, Eden’s main creative outlets include painting, drawing, and sculpture, however she also works with tattoo, digital illustration, poetry and photography. Through a desire to be sustainable and strive towards a zero-waste practice, Eden has been experimenting with creating her own canvases using discarded items such as bedsheets and window frames, as well as turning her offcuts and studio waste into works of art themselves. The content of Edens’ artwork is driven by her background in architecture, conflicted connection with the stolen land she calls home, deep love for animals and nature, mental health struggles and use of creativity as an outlet for processing grief and trauma. In sharing her work, Eden hopes to connect with her audience, create positive spaces for voices to be heard, advocate for her beliefs and support the development of creative communities that are accessible to all.
