CECILIA & MARCO CABALQUINTO

Cecilia and Marco Cabalquinto are a husband and wife collective, both born in the busy Manila, Philippines, but is based in Geelong with their two daughters. Marco is photographer who shoots with street and photojournalistic style, both digitally and on film. He is a chef and baker, who started out with old school film photography, constantly with a camera on his hand, ready for the right moment. He is currently exhibiting his first work at The Space Gallery Workshops in Geelong , “Postcards from 2001”, where his photos act like postcards from throughout the years, with It trying to relay the feeling of "wish you were here". An emotion he wished to evoke from the viewer. Cecilia is an alternative medium visual artist whose works revolve around the use of coffee, tea, bear and wine, with subjects being life and architectural.Cecilia is also a muralist, having created works for Feast Cafe and The Women’s Street Art Project for the Geelong City Council with the Geelong Illustrators. She is also a digital artist, working on illustrations and animation. A graduate of an Industrial Design, she has used her love and knowledge in the arts and design in her pieces. This can be seen in her first solo exhibition titled, “Beyond the Amber Drip” where she creates artworks of cafes, captured in time, painted using the espresso brewed straight from their machine and with black inks and gouache. She is currently exhibiting a new body of work at The Space Gallery and Workshops, where she stretches the possibilities of painting with coffee. As a collective, they plan to meld their respective skills and realise their visions through photography and print techniques and with the use alternative pigments, capturing moments in time.
