LYNDEL QUICK
Lyndel is a community dance artist, teacher, director and theatremaker. Her formative years were spent acting with the Barwon Theatre Company, before completing 6 years tertiary training in dance, theatre and education at Deakin University, Rusden and Box Hill TAFE. Lyndel has designed and implemented arts programs, directed works, facilitated workshops and choreography for schools, theatre companies, training organisations and private studios in Australia and the United Kingdom, including Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Victorian College of the Arts, Ausdance Victoria, Back to Back Theatre, Geelong Arts Centre and Platform Arts.
Lyndel was co-artistic director of Room2move Youth Dance Company for four years, with the company twice nominated for an Australian Dance Award. Lyndel’s work has received support from Arts Victoria, City of Greater Geelong, Geelong Connected Communities, Next Wave Festival, Geelong Arts Centre’s Creative Engine program, and a LAB Residency with Platform Arts. In 2016, Lyndel was awarded the Australian Independent Dance Teachers Award.
Lyndel established her project-based company, Blink Dance Theatre in 2013 and has conceived, produced, and directed numerous events and performances since. Lyndel’s practice explores multidisciplinary modes of making with a particular focus on devised ensemble performance, site specificity and community participation. She has created an extensive body of work and maintains an ongoing area of research in ecology, embodied mythology, and somatic movement practice. For 20 years, she has facilitated events at her studio, The Loft located in Geelong, the creative hub for Blink and where she regularly teaches and practices. She is now extending her arts practice into regional Victoria.
