JONATHAN DREDGE

Jonathan Dredge is a fine art photographer with a focus on film and alternative practices, such as wet plate and large format photography.

Growing up on the plains of Little River, he spent his childhood years playing on the riverbank, sifting through the ruins of long-forgotten farmhouses and connecting to the bush landscape. These memories have embedded themselves in his art. His work is earthy and grounded, yet imbued with a sense of spirituality and symbolism as he draws out his deeply held love for the land.

During his career, with a Bachelor of Photography from RMIT, he has won numerous awards for his work, including most recently taking out awards two years running for ‘Best Film Photograph’ and ‘Best Animal Photograph’ at the Centre for Contemporary Photography Salon 2020 and 2021. He has exhibited throughout Geelong and Melbourne with both solo and group shows, and has curated multiple well-received group exhibitions.

Jonathan’s most recent body of work exhibited as part of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale. He lives, works and creates on Wadawurrung land with his artist wife Laura and two kids, Joa and Awen.
