Jessica Clark is a proud palawa woman and a curator of contemporary art, living and working on Wurundjeri Country in Naarm (Melbourne). She currently holds the position of Yalingwa Curator at ACCA, and during this session will be sharing her insights into curatorial practice.

Presented as part of the Platform LAB program, our Professional Development series delivers monthly, online lectures led by guest practitioners working across Australia and internationally. Curated by Bureau of Works, these seminars are designed to build artists' professional capacity in curatorial practice, arts project management, community engagement and marketing. Professional Development is open to artists of all career stages, and particularly well-suited to early and mid-career artists.

Tickets can be purchased for individual sessions, or as a discounted session bundle.

  • Jessica Clark is a proud palawa woman and a curator of contemporary art living and working on Wurundjeri Country in Naarm (Melbourne). She currently holds the position of Yalingwa Curator at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (2022-24).

Jessica has a background in art history and art education and has been working in varying curatorial roles since 2017. This experience has empowered her to develop a highly considered curatorial practice that is grounded by an understanding of the interrelationship between life, materiality, and place.

Recent independent and collaborative exhibition projects include: breathing space (2021) and one (&) another (2020) at Margaret Lawrence Gallery, Naarm, In and of this place (2021) at Benalla Art Gallery [Online], and Experimenta Life Forms: International Triennial of Media Art (2021-2023) national touring exhibition.

She is currently undertaking a curatorial practice-led PhD at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne that is focussed on investigating intercultural exhibition models for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australian art. Jessica is also a current participant in the International Curators Program: Asia Pacific Triennial x TarraWarra Biennial (2021-2023) and alumni of: PIAD First Nations Colloquium, South Africa (2019), Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Cultural Keepers Program (2017-2020), Wesfarmers Indigenous Arts Leadership Program (2018), Signature Works: Innovation Lab (2018), and the First Nations Curators Program for the Venice Biennale (2017).
