SALON
What if everything we need is already here?
SAT 11 OCT—THU 11 DEC
MULTIPLE EVENTS
Salon celebrates the people of Djilang, throwing open the Courthouse doors to host a series of radical gatherings focused on artistic exchange.
Let us be your inspired host. Come and join in the conversations, walk through the galleries, the theatre, and share in the social discussions that arise from encountering arts moments as part of the collective.
At its origin, the Salon was a curated space for conversation and contestation, often hosted by influential women. Platform Arts’ Salon continues the salonnieres lineage through a full program including exhibition, public programs, and performance. Curated as a porous framework rather than a single event, Salon invites artists, audiences, and communities to share in the democratic power of dialogue and encounter. Through this suite of programs, Platform Arts positions Salon as a catalyst for new ideas, emergent practices, and collective reimagining of the cultural landscape in Djilang.
Read below about the featured events—more to be announced over October to December.
AFTER WALTER HOPPS
SAT 11 OCT—THU 11 DEC
This October through to December, Platform Arts hands over creative control of its curated gallery program with After Walter Hopps. Over three days, artists can bring in new or existing works to be installed on a first-come, first-served basis in a fast-paced curatorial experiment. An open-call exhibition, After Walter Hopps’ aim is to fill the gallery from floor to ceiling, wall to wall, in a show that takes shape cumulatively, expansively, and with community at its center.
There will be installation workshops on WED 08 OCT:
10.30AM—1.00PM - “Install your work” workshop with Lucy Allinson and Amber Smith.
