Platform Arts is inviting artists to submit expressions of interest for our 2023 creative program. There are four separate program opportunities to apply for: LAB, YOOKAPA, Performance Program and Public Programs.
Platform LAB is our flagship artist development program that fosters new dialogues around contemporary art practice and collaboration.
Platform LAB champions the creative development process of artists across diverse disciplines and at all stages of career. This tailored residency program supports participating artists to experiment with new methodologies, undertake research, grow their professional practice and contribute to contemporary dialogues. LAB provides artists with time, money, space, tailored mentorship, group intensives and presentation opportunities, as well as in-house technical, producing, and marketing support.
In 2023, Platform LAB will support 8 artists through the investment of over $100,000 in financial and in-kind support.
Platform Arts recognises the need for accessible contemporary arts development opportunities, and we welcome applications from artists of all disciplines, ages and stages of practice.
Each participating artist or collective will be supported with:
$5000
12-month supported residency
Participation in Professional Development program
Participation in two in-person LAB residency intensives
Industry mentorship and/or subsidised stipend to engage collaborators
Before you apply, please download the LAB Application Guidelines for the full list of criteria and eligibility. Artists are invited to apply for one or more program opportunities at Platform Arts through the one application form. Applications for LAB will be assessed by Platform Arts’ staff and external peer assessors.
For questions and enquiries, please contact us at hello@platformarts.org.au. Artists may apply via the form linked on this page, or request an alternative submission process via email.
Platform LAB is made possible with the support of the Australian Government through the Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund.
