For accessibility enquiries, please directly contact us at hello@platformarts.org.au

Please note, Platform Arts is a dry venue.

You are invited to an intimate and cosy night of spoken word. Listen to local and local-ish poets share their musings, ramblings, and ravings. A curated selection of poets will speak, and there will be an open mic on the night. The evening will conclude with an experimental performance by Anna Schwann, responding to the works in her collaborative exhibition Entropical: Prosthetic Park.

Bring your notebooks, your journals, your notes-app poetry. Bring your morning commute brain-farts. Bring your rage at the stopped train, your chest fluttering, "they didn't reply,"

Bring your own two hands. Bring your trembling. Bring your shaking hands and your very best listening. Bring all of your wet heart and firey angst. Bring your bravery, but accept shyness. Stuttering happens. Most of us shake at the microphone. I feel it in my kneecaps. My legs a-tremble and I hope it doesn't show. It's okay if it does. We love it all.

I hope you find something. I hope you feel bold enough to share.

This event is free to attend, running as part of current exhibitions if it falls, it falls and Entropical: Prosthetic Park. Please register if you would like to receive updates and reminders via email.

  • Phoebe Thompson is an artist whose multi-disciplinary practice is concerned with ecology and sustainability, personal identity, and the built and existing environment, whilst placing value on process, sentimentality, and connection.

Anna Schwann works in an expanded sculptural practice that investigates the encounter between art and audience. Through playful resistance and embracing failure she facilitates a conversation using sensory engaging tactics as means of connection. Taking a D.I.Y approach to technique, Schwann utilises provisional, accessible materials for making and uses everyday objects in her narrative.

Anna lives and works in Naarm and on Jaara land with grateful respect to First Nations peoples as the traditional and rightful caretakers of these lands and waterways.
